Increase in credit card transactions in October 2015

According to JCC statistics the use of credit cards in October 2015 has increased both by locals as well as foreigners.

Local cards used in Cyprus reached a 10% increase. Local cards used abroad increased by 8%. Foreign cards used in Cyprus increased by 5%.

Government, utility and supermarket sectors saw the biggest increases in local transactions whereas transactions for petrol have decreased.

As far as the use of local credit cards in occupied areas the most transactions were related to the entertainment, hotel and supermarket sectors.

The use of Turkish credit cards in Cyprus saw the most activity in the supermarket and clothing sectors.
