Hospitality sector up in 2014

The sectors of accommodation and food service activities recorded an annual increase of 4.2% in 2014, according to the Statistical Service Cystat, a trend underlined by recent tourism data that showed an increase in arrivals but a slight fall in money spent by tourists.

According to the Cystat figures, the food service activities increased in 2014 by 7.9%, while accommodation services activities decreased by 0.3%. 


Moreover, the professional, scientific and technical activities recorded an increase of 6.6%, while the sectors of information and communication and administrative and support service activities recorded a decrease of 4.5% and 5.0%, respectively.

For the fourth quarter period of October-December 2014, compared to the same period of 2013, the sectors of accommodation and food service activities, information and communication and professional, scientific and technical activities recorded an increase of 1.0%, 1.2% and 12.8%, respectively. On the other hand, the sector of administrative and support service activities recorded a decrease of 14.9%.
