Hellenic Bank outlines challenges and trends at investment forum

Hellenic Bank this week announced that its wealth and investment services division hosted a forum aimed at understanding the challenges and trends shaping the investment landscape, in an effort to navigate geopolitical uncertainties impacting the market.

During the event, Michaela Savva, Director of Wealth & Investment Services at Hellenic Bank, delved into the macroeconomic environment, emphasising the evolving trends in investment. She highlighted the prolonged uncertainty and the need for investors to be selective and regularly reassess their portfolios to weather unforeseen circumstances. Additionally, she stressed the importance of a well-crafted strategy to capitalise on emerging investment opportunities. “Quality is paramount for us at Hellenic Bank Wealth & Investment Services,” she said. “We favour assets that offer attractive returns and robust profitability margins while ensuring resilience and flexibility,” she added.

Addressing the strong and lasting trends that have transformed our daily lives, society, and investment opportunities, she underlined the importance of sustainable development, the shift towards a green economy, digitisation, the potential of artificial intelligence, demographic changes, and urbanisation.

Meanwhile, Andreas Assiotis, Head of Retail Banking at Hellenic Bank, further analysed the macroeconomic landscape, emphasising the significance of financial planning and investments for both institutional and private investors. He highlighted how Hellenic Bank has reshaped wealth management to be accessible and available to everyone, empowering clients throughout their financial journey.

The event featured representatives from Allianz Global Investors, Pimco, and Schroders. George Georgiou, Global Head of Fixed Income Product Specialist at Allianz Global Investors, noted the present opportunities that were absent when inflation and interest rates were significantly lower. Vasilis Miliaras, Vice President and Account Manager for Greece, Cyprus, and the UK at Pimco, discussed the return of bonds and the potential for equity-like returns with less risk.

Finally, the Head of Southern CEE & Mediterranean at Schroders analysed opportunities in private markets and their role in investor portfolios.
