The harmonised deflation rate accelerated to 0.8% in February 2015 compared to 0.7% in January, mainly on reduced energy prices, the statistical service said recently.
Prices for housing, water, electricity and gas fell the most and were in February 6.6% below the respective month a year ago, Cystat said in a statement on its website today. Prices for transport, which also includes fuel prices, fell 6.2%, for recreation and culture 2.1%, education 1.6%, miscellaneous goods and services 0.7% and furnishings, household equipment and supplies 0.4%.
Prices of clothing and footwear rose the most and were 2.6% above respective 2014 levels followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages which became 2.2% more expensive.
