Half of Cyprus' wedding tourism comes from the UK

The UK market remains the main source of wedding tourism accounting for 50% of the 4,000 ceremonies that take place annually in Cyprus, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) saidrecently.

Paphos is the leader in wedding ceremonies from the UK, followed by the Famagusta area, a statement said following the CTO participation in the recent wedding exhibition in London.

According to specialised tour operators, it said, even bigger numbers were expected for 2017 and 2018.

The CTO said Cyprus meets all the attributes for hosting luxury weddings such as luxurious hotels, historic sites such as medieval castles and monuments dedicated to the Goddess of Love Aphrodite, unique isolated beaches for ‘barefoot weddings’, picturesque villages, experience in organising thematic weddings like vintage ceremonies, boho, rustic, underwater and traditional Cypriot weddings, plus great food and wine.

The aim of the CTO is to have more wedding tourism all year round and not just in the May to October period.
