The Statistical Service published an annual report providing data on the number of enterprises, employment, labour costs, gross output, value added and gross fixed capital formation. On the basis of the main findings of the report during 2011, value added at current market prices, for the sector of Other Social and Personal Service Activities, decreased by 1.0% to €576.7 mn in 2011 compared to €582.6 mn in 2010 and its contribution to G.V.A. decreased to 3.6% in 2011 from 3.7% in 2010. Gross output decreased by 1.3% to €822.3 mn in 2011 from €833.3 mn in 2010.
In the private sector, of the total value added, 39.8% was generated by the activities of households as employers, 32.3% by the other service activities and 27.9% by the arts, entertainment and recreation. In the public sector, of the total value added, 98.4% was generated by the arts, entertainment and recreation and 1.6% by other service activities. Employment in the sector of other social and personal service activities increased by 1.3% in 2011 compared to the previous year and reached 38,629 persons, accounting for 9.3% of the total economically active population and 9.5% of the total gainfully employed population. Gross fixed capital formation in 2011 increased by 13.9% to €62.1 mn from €54.5 mn in 2010. In particular, investment in new buildings accounted for €35.8 mn, in machinery and equipment €13.8 mn, in furniture and fixtures €10.9 mn and in transport equipment €1.6 mn.
