The agreement reached recently in Brussels between Greece and its international creditors was a difficult one and constitutes a clear improvement on the initial requirements, President Nicos Anastasiades says.
In a written statement, the President describes the agreement as the best under the circumstances, given the time constraints.
The President points out that the agreement allows Greece to remain in the hard core of the European Union.
The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras faces a showdown with rebels in his own party and coalition partners as he battles to win support for the third bailout offered by the eurozone leaders.
Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission, said a ‘Grexit’ had been prevented following "laborious" talks, while Prime Minister David Cameron said the deal "gives stability a chance".
