Greece to host series of EU Presidency events in Cyprus

The Embassy of Greece in Cyprus is organising a series events to mark the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the first half of 2014.

 

Saturday 11 January
Theater: 'Only one life to live' of George Tzavellas. Director: Konstantinos Rigos, at the National Theater Organisation of Cyprus (THOC), 9, Grigori Afxentiou str. Nicosia, at 20:30 (English subtitles). The programme in Nicosia will last for eight weeks after which the play will be staged in Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Paralimni.

Friday 17 January
Music concert: Tribute to composer Manos Hadzidakis with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, at the Strovolos Municipality Theatre, at 20:30. Soloist: Vassilis Gisdakis, cconductor: Alkis Baltas

Saturday 18 January
Music concert: Tribute to composer Manos Hadzidakis with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, at the Larnaca Municipal Theatre, at 20:30

Friday 31 January
Piano recital by Panayiotis Trochopoulos, hosted by the Pharos Art Foundation at The Shoe Factory, 304, Ermou str., Famagusta Gate area, Nicosia, at 20:30

Friday 31 January to Thursday 6 February
Greek Cinema Week, hosted by Cine Studio, University of Nicosia. 21:00 (Sunday, 20:00) in cooperation with the Friends of Cinema Society of Cyprus.

Thursday 11 March
Theatrical performance based on readings from 'Ulysses' in the French language. Combination of sound and light. Director: Magdalena Zera. Cultural Centre “Spilies”, Aglantzia, Nicosia, at 20:30, in cooperation with the French Institute of Nicosia, the Theatre Group 'Fantastico Theatro' and the Embassy of Greece.

Friday 25 April to Saturday 10 May
'Reconnection': Group art exhibition by young Cypriot artists, graduates from university schools of fine art in Greece, in cooperation with the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Cyprus Fine Arts Chamber (EKATE) and the Embassy of Greece.

Friday 4 May
Concert: Katerina Mina (soprano) and Elena Mouzala (piano) at the Cultural Centre of Famagusta Gate, Nicosia, at 20:00.

Thursday 15 May to Friday 30 May
Open air photographic exhibition on a Greek theme at the Cultural Centre 'Evagoras and Kathleen Lanitis', Carob Mills near the Medieval Castle, Limassol.

May – June
Exhibition on 'The magic of writing. From Alef to Alpha'. An historic and artistic journey to the writing which structured European culture, organised by the Embassy of Greece, the Ministry of Education and Culture – Cultural Services, at the Cultural Center 'Evagoras & Kathleen Lanitis', Limassol.
