The route commenced on Saturday on a weekly basis, every Saturday. Hermes said the launch of Germanwings’ flights to Cyprus was expected to contribute significantly to the efforts to reviving tourist traffic from Germany, which have waned in recent years.

Germanwings’ flights also give passengers the opportunity to benefit from the airline’s extensive air-connection network to many European as well as other destinations offered by Lufthansa, which also includes SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines.

In a statement, the Chief Executive Officer of Hermes, Wes Porter, welcomed the launch of Germanwings flights to Cyprus and noted that this development was the result of concerted actions and efforts made by Hermes in collaboration with all the other appropriate stakeholders in the Cyprus’ tourism industry.

He said the expansion of the air-connectivity service between Cyprus and Germany, created the foundations and conditions that need to be in place in order to follow a methodical and effective pathway towards achieving a significant recovery in the German market.
