Free handicraft and enogastronomy workshops to showcase ‘authentic’ Cyprus

In a move to promote cultural and rural tourism, the deputy ministry of tourism on Thursday announced 570 free traditional handicraft and enogastronomy workshops to take place over the weekends until the end of the year.

he activities, which aim to offer an authentic Cyprus experience to visitors, will be held across the island and are provided for free to both locals and foreign visitors.

They will be able to visit and participate in workshops on painting, embroidery, ceramics, pottery, basket weaving, silver-making and wood carving among others.  They can also follow enogastronomy workshops, such as on making wine and traditional charcuterie.

As part of the workshops, participants will have the opportunity to create clay pots, wicker baskets, or wine and palouze.

The workshops are set to take place between 10am and 7pm until November, and from 10am to 5pm in December.

The organisers of the workshops will implement all the relevant health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the announcement said.
