Employment in permanent government positions fell by 679 people, or 2.5%, from 26,629 to 25,950, while employment in temporary positions increased by 882 people, or 4.9%, to 18,980 compared to 18,098 in June 2021, according to data from the Statistical Service published on Monday. In total, in the Government in June 2022 employment increased by 265 people (0.5%) compared to the corresponding month of 2021 and reached 53,474 people.
Compared to June 2021, there is an increase of 0.8% in the personnel of the Public Service and 2% of the Education Service, while there is a decrease in the personnel of the Security Forces by 1.7%.
However, in permanent staff, a decrease is observed in all three categories, with the largest occurring in the Public Service staff, with 3.3%. On the contrary, in the temporary staff there is an increase in the staff of the Public Service by 7.3% and in the Education Service by 8.5%, while there is a decrease in the staff of the Security Forces by 1%. In Hourly Staff there is an increase of 0.7% compared to June 2021.
Compared to May 2022, there is an increase in Civil Service personnel by 0.3%, while there is a 2.1% decrease in Education Service personnel and 0.4% in Security Forces personnel.
In the permanent staff, there is a decrease in the categories of the Public Service by 0.4% and the Security Forces by 0.2%, while the permanent staff of the Education Service remains stable. In temporary staff, there is an increase in the staff of the Public Service by 1.2%, while there is a decrease in the staff of the Education Service by 5.2% and of the Security Forces by 0.7%. In Hourly Staff there is an increase of 1.5% compared to May 2022.
