The overall increase in industrial turnover in March resulted mainly from an annual 8.3% increase in the turnover of Cypriot manufacturers, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Tuesday. Domestic sales of manufacturing companies rose 9.7% in March while exports rose 2.8%.
Turnover in mining and quarrying rose 3.1% in March, while that in electricity and power supply and recycling dropped 22% and 0.9% compared to the respective month of 2015 respectively, Cystat said.
In the first quarter, overall industrial sales rose 0.9%, as a 6.8% and 41% increase in the turnover of manufacturing and mining and quarrying companies, more than offset a 22% drop in electricity and 4.9% drop in water supply and recycling, Cystat said.
