The conference tackled important topics in the rapidly changing maritime industry such as international regulation, change management, and the sustainable use of marine resources. As in previous years, this year’s event attracted over 800 attendees from around the globe, including some of the most influential names in the shipping industry. In line with the conference’s trademark format and style, all speakers and moderated panel sessions took place during the mornings of the conference, with the afternoons free for meetings and networking.
Commenting on the success of the conference, Stavros Pantzaris, Country Managing Partner of EY Cyprus, said: “We support this year's Maritime Cyprus Conference, and extend our congratulations on the occasion of its 30th anniversary. These meetings, with the presence of leading shipowners and shipping executives, as well as senior representatives of regulatory bodies and high-profile speakers, have earned international recognition and prominence. This year's event, focusing on key issues such as the changing international regulatory environment, the sustainable management of marine resources and the adoption of emerging and digital technology, will make a significant contribution to the ongoing dialogue on the major challenges faced by global shipping today".
Kyriakos Christodoulou, Associate Partner specializing in the Shipping Sector, mentioned: "The Cyprus shipping industry is the most extrovert sector of the national economy and an important source of income, employment and prestige for Cyprus. Meanwhile, all stakeholders are stepping up efforts to strengthen the country's position as an international maritime cluster. EY Cyprus actively supports Cypriot shipping, making significant investments in the development of a wide range of services such as auditing, tax, legal, consulting and other services for the industry. In this context, we naturally support the Maritime Cyprus Conference, an event that has gained international recognition, bringing together the leading players in Cyprus and internationally”.
The shipping sector is one of the main sectors in which EY operates in Cyprus, with many years of experience in the field and specialized teams that enable the firm to provide high quality services to its customers.
