Invest Cyprus Chairman Evgenios Evgeniou told key foreign investors on the island that he wants them to become the country’s ambassadors, adding: “You are the most credible advocate for our country.”
He was addressing a roundtable with the government and investors – titled “Foreign Investors Dialogue with Government: From feedback to action” – at the Presidential Palace, where some of the government’s key ministers presented the actions they have taken to address the feedback they received from investors in their previous meeting last June.
“We want you who have already chosen Cyprus, not only to stay here, but to become the ambassadors for our country. You are the most credible advocate for our country,” said Evgeniou.
Welcoming the investors, he said Invest Cyprus has three broad responsibilities: to promote Cyprus as a business hub and investment destination, attract specialised talent and promote headquartering in the country.
For the foreign investors already active in the country, Evgeniou said the agency’s aim is to help them address their issues, take their feedback and relay it to the government so action can be taken to improve the domestic business environment.
“The investors gave their feedback last June and the government listened,” he said. “Today is the follow-up. Today we will announce actions based on your feedback. I am sure there will be more feedback, there will be more issues that need to be resolved and there will be more action from the country and government in the years to come,” he added.
Finally, the Invest Cyprus chairman thanked the investors for choosing Cyprus and making it their home and base for their business, assuring them: “We are here to help.”
