Elias Neocleous & Co. LLC sponsors first-ever start-up contest at Reflect Festival 2023

The recent Reflect Festival 2023 saw more than 8k attendees immerse themselves in 2 days of advanced insights, pioneering creations (think dancing robot and ground-breaking digital applications), supercharged learning, and radical brainstorming, ensuring the festival lived up to its reputation.

An exclusive mix of local and international speakers took to the different stages at Reflect and delved into a variety of diverse topics like the AI boom, changing cities, the metaverse, fintech, blockchain, gaming, the future of the internet, virtual worlds, and many more. This included an exciting panel discussion by our firm’s Tech law team together with the Theodoros Loukaidis, Director General of the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation, that explored the topic of navigating the maze of AI, including pertinent legal and ethical issues arising therefrom.

Additionally, several accomplished entrepreneurs recounted their personal stories and the challenges they have encountered on the road to success.

Also running during the event was ReflectX, a thrilling regional startup pitching competition to cultivate innovation and empower startups to thrive. ReflectX provided an excellent opportunity for start-ups to gain exposure to potential investors, customers, and partners, showcase their product or service to a large audience, and enhance visibility of their brand. Participants obtained valuable feedback from judges, mentors, and other participants, making for an unquestionable learning experience. A range of prizes were awarded, from seed capital, mentoring, and critical business support (legal, IT, cybersecurity, etc.) to fuel growth and drive expansion.

Winning the competition was the Soula app, a unique AI-powered assistant for pregnancy, birth, and post-partum. Notably, our firm sponsored a prize to the winning startup by offering them on a pro-bono basis legal services necessary for their operations.  This sponsorship is an integral part of our CSR initiatives and underlines our firm’s dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurial talent, supporting emerging businesses, and promoting sustainable development within our community.
