Easing of COVID measures in Cyprus

COVID measures are beginning to ease in Cyprus.  The new measures announced today by the Council of Ministers come into effect on Saturday, October 9.

Among the changes will be the increase of the number of people allowed indoors in establishments such as restaurants, cafes, nightclubs and various other venues that are used for gatherings.

The following guidelines apply to restaurants, bars, cafes and venues that cater to any type of event, with or without food, including gatherings for the purposes of religious worship:

(a) An increase in the maximum number of persons indoors from 250 to 300 persons, with the presentation of a valid SafePass, or

(b) An increase in the maximum number of persons indoors from 450 to 500 persons, provided that only persons with a full vaccination certificate or a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 in the last 6 months enter the premises.

(c) An increase in the number of persons per table from 10 to 12.

Football fans will now be able to cheer on their teams live at stadiums, which, beginning Saturday, will now be allowed to operate at 75% capacity. Spectators must show that they have been fully vaccinated by one of the approved vaccines (2 weeks after the last shot must have elapsed), or they may present a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 within the past 6 months, or they may also present a PCR test taken no later than 72 hours before attendance.

For theater and cinema lovers, a maximum of 300 people are now allowed indoors and 350 if outdoors, with the presentation of a SafePass. Alternatively, these venues are allowed to operate at 75% capacity as long as guests can provide one of the following: full vaccination certificate, certificate of recovery or a negative PCR test taken no later than 72 hours before the event.
