The Electricity Authority of Cyprus is waiting for the green light from the Environment Protection Department for the largest-scale photovoltaic park to be built in the Ahera area.
This is what Philenews reported on Monday, adding that the 68 MW-powered park will be located at a total area of 2,000 hectares.
The ambitious project concerns the construction and operation of 14 photovoltaic parks that will be connected to the local electricity network at different points.
At the same time, the Department recently asked for the provision of additional data which has been sent by the project’s designers.
Moreover, a special ecological assessment has been prepared since part of the project is located at a distance of approximately 535 meters away from the “Natura 2000” European Ecological Network’ s protected area of Mitserou-Agrokipias.
Construction works are expected to start within 2023 and be rounded up by mid-2025. The overall cost is estimated at €70 million.
