Deposit interest rates remained close to zero levels in June

Deposit interest rates remained at close to zero levels in June with lending rates showing small variations, according to data released on Tuesday by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).

In June the interest rate on deposits from households with an agreed maturity of up to one year remained unchanged at 0.05%, compared with the previous month, while the rates for deposits from non-financial corporations registered an increase to 0.03%, compared with 0.01% in the previous month.

Concerning loans, the interest rate on consumer credit fell to 2.89%, compared with 2.91% in the previous month and the interest rate on loans for home purchases increased to 2.32%, compared with 2.28% in the previous month.

Furthermore, the interest rate on loans to non-financial corporations for amounts up to €1 million increased to 3.36%, compared with 3.31% in the previous month, whereas the interest rate on loans to non-financial corporations for amounts over €1 million registered a decrease to 2.89%, compared with 2.97% the month before, the CBC said.
