Deadline for green transition scheme for businesses extended

The Environment Department this week announced an extension of the application deadline for a grant scheme aiming to encourage businesses in Cyprus to reduce their gas emissions.

According to the announcement, the new deadline has been set for Monday, 30 September 2024, or until the scheme’s budget of €5 million is fully allocated. Moreover, the department explained that this extension is part of its “ongoing efforts to support businesses in adopting sustainable practices”. “We are committed to helping Cypriot businesses transition to greener operations,” the department stated. “This grant scheme is a crucial step in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fostering a sustainable future,” it added. The scheme is open to both large and small businesses (SMEs) that meet the eligibility criteria. In addition, the grant amounts and support rates vary depending on the size of the business.

Large businesses can receive up to 60 per cent of costs, with a maximum grant of €18,500. Meanwhile, medium-sized businesses are eligible for up to 70 per cent, with a maximum of €15,500. Finally, very small and small businesses can receive up to 80 per cent of their costs, with a cap of €11,500.

Furthermore, the department has advised interested businesses to review the scheme’s implementation guide and application forms available on the Department of Environment’s website. “We encourage all eligible businesses to take advantage of this opportunity,” the department said.
