Cyprus unemployment rate fell slightly this September to 15.1% compared with last September when it reached 16.3%, according to data released by Eurostat.
However, Cyprus has the fourth highest unemployment rate in Europe. First on the list is Greece with a rate as high as 25% followed by Spain at 21.5% and Croatia at 15.4%.
As far as the EU-28 average the unemployment rate has decreased also slightly to 9.3% from 10.1% of last September. In the euro area unemployment fell in September to 10.8% from 10.9% in August.
As expected the lowest unemployment rate is in Germany. The countries of the North overall have lower unemployment rates than the countries of the South with the exception of Malta with an unemployment rate of 5.1%.
