Cyprus has secured funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development-EBRD for a study which will finally lead to the launching of Next Generation Access-NGA networks in the island.
The results of the study, which will cost around €300.000, are set to be ready in November or December at the latest.
Commissioner of Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation (CECPR) George Michaelides said that the study will open the doors for the creation of an NGA network in Cyprus-an investment estimated at around €150-200 million - which will finally attract huge investments and will give Cyprus the opportunity to absorb funding from the EU and to develop a new scope of technology services.
