The EU Fund for Maritime and Fisheries Policies has granted Cyprus a total of €39.7 million for the years 2014-2020, almost double the amount the EU provided Cyprus with during 2007-2013, the result of intense and hard negotiations with the European Commission.
The Ministry of Agriculture says, in the press release, that the above amount will contribute to the efforts underway for the implementation of various projects and funding in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, processing and marketing of fishery and aquaculture products as well as measures concerning fishing infrastructure works.
Additionally the programs aim to help the sustainable development of fisheries areas and protect the marine environment.
