Cyprus-Russia sign economic cooperation protocol

Cyprus and Russia recently signed an economic cooperation protocol in Moscow at the end of the meeting of the Seventh Cyprus-Russia Intergovernmental Committee for Economic Cooperation.

An official statement says the protocol provides for further strengthening relations in the two countries and reinforcing and developing cooperation in the fields of economy, commerce, tourism, transport, health and other sectors. The protocol was signed by Finance Minister Haris Georgiades on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus and Μanylov Igor Yevgnievich deputy Minister of Agriculture, on behalf of the Russian Federation.

In remarks after the ceremony, Georgiades said that the close bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries have reached the highest level in recent years. This is evident from the increasing cooperation and understanding exhibited between the two states and the convergence of aims in the political aspect. He also expressed satisfaction for the good will and cooperation evident during the talks, noting that the Protocol signed will undoubtedly contribute to further developing the economic and other relations of the two countries. The two sides also assured that there are prospects to further promote cooperation in existing and new fields, like health and energy. The two ministers stressed the favourable preconditions for developing commercial exchanges and strengthening cooperation in tourism and transport.
