A health ministry press release on Thursday noted that the decision was taken in view of the continued evaluation of the epidemiological risk of various countries, and following the tracing of infections among passengers flying in from Bulgaria.
The new classification will be enforced as of Monday June 29 and will be subject to re-evaluation on the basis of the epidemiological indices, the press release said.
As such, those intending to travel from Bulgaria to Cyprus as of June 29 will be required to have undertaken a laboratory test for coronavirus by a recognized lab within 72 hours prior to departure, and to be able to present a certificate of a negative result.
Additionally, the ministry said, until Sunday June 28, all passengers arriving on the island from Bulgarian airports will be tested upon arrival, irrespective the decision taken by national authorities to randomly test arrivals.
