The construction permits issued in January 2017 reached 465 compared to 356 during the same month in 2016. Compared to December 2016 (454), the number of construction permits increased by 2.01%.
The total value of the permits issued reached €108.4 million and the total area spans 88,400 square metres, compared to €73 million and 69,300 square metres the same month of the previous year.
With these construction permits, 381 housing units will be constructed compared to 243 in January 2016.
Nicosia was the district with the largest increase in construction permits, up from 133 in January 2016, to reach 184 in January 2017.
Limassol followed with 123 construction permits in January 2017 compared to 107 the previous year.
Next came Paphos with 77 permits compared to last year’s 48, followed by Larnaca with 66 compared to last January’s 52.
Famagusta recorded 15 construction permits, down from last January’s 16.
