In the first eight months of the year, the total number of new company registrations rose 24% to 8,666 compared to the respective period of 2015, the Department of Company Registrar and Official Receiver said in an emailed statement on Wednesday. The number of registrations in January to August is the highest since the year before the banking crisis.
The number of applications for company names rose 17% in August to 1,877 and 16% in January to August to 17,542, the department said. The number of certified documents issued by the department rose 20% in August to 21,610 and 8.8% in the first eight months of 2016 to 201,266.
Finally, the number of other documents submitted rose an annual 7% in August to 8,568 and fell 2.4% to 83,124 in January to August, the company registrar said.
