Cypriots’ purchases amounted to €224.3m in the tenth month of the year, increasing by 10% compared to the same month in 2014, said JCC, a card processing company.
During the period January-October the value of card purchases grew by 1% and reached €1.86bn.
JCC said that card payments to the government, utilities and supermarkets saw an increase, while payments for petrol decreased.
Cypriots’ card purchases and withdrawals abroad were also up by 8%, totalling €111.3m. The value of these transactions during the first ten months of the year increased by 3%, reaching €987.4m.
Transactions with foreign cards used in Cyprus in October rose by 5% to €73.3m whereas between January and October the value of transactions rose by 8% to €603.6m.
