Citing the results of the Passenger Survey, Cystat said revenue from tourism reached €54.6 million in December 2019 compared to €56.4 million in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 3.2%.
For the period of January – December 2019 revenue from tourism is estimated at €2.683 billion compared to €2.7106 b in 2018, recording a decrease of 10%.
Expenditure per person for December 2019 reached €494.67 compared to €528.95 in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 6.5%.
Expenditure per person/per day for December 2019 compared to December 2018 also recorded a decrease of 1.2% (from €56.88 to €56.21).
A decrease of 5.4% was also recorded in the average length of stay, from 9.3 days in December 2018 to 8.8 days in December 2019.
The expenditure per person for the period of January – December 2019 reached €674.65 compared to €688.22 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording a decrease of 2%.
Expenditure per person/per day for the period of January – December 2019 compared to the period of January – December 2018 remained at the same level (from €74.81 to €74.96). Cyprus welcomed a record 3.976 million tourists in 2019, a 1% increase over 2018.
